2Morrow: A Pioneer in Evidence-Based Digital Health

Jo Masterson CEO 2Morrow
Jo Masterson | CEO | 2Morrow

The Covid-19 pandemic has thrown the world off path. But it took us a few steps closer to digitalization. The healthcare sector has come to focus during the pandemic. It has been in high demand and comes with an innovative idea every other day. Utilizing new technologies in healthcare has been the best thing that happened during the pandemic.

2Morrow, a digital therapeutic platform, is one of the best wellness service providers, and it has set an example for the entire healthcare sector. The platform has adopted technology to provide therapy online. It makes use of AI and big data to study its patients and provide the best solutions. The application provides one-on-one sessions and organizes programs for employees, health workers, and others to reach their health goals.

In the following interview, Jo Masterson, the CEO of 2Morrow, briefs us about the company’s approach towards digital healthcare and its future endeavors.

Below are the highlights of the interview:

Please brief our audience about your company, its mission, and the key aspects of its stronghold within the health and wellness space.

We are a leader in pioneering and providing scientifically proven digital coaching solutions. Founded in 2011 and based in Washington state, we focus on evidence-based programs that combine technology and behavioral science to address some of today’s largest healthcare issues, including smoking, vaping, weight, stress/anxiety, and chronic pain.

We are currently working with employers, states, retailers, health plans, providers, and public health organizations, placing programs directly into the hands of people who need them most via the convenience and privacy of their smartphones.

Tell us more about your services and solutions which make your company stand out from the competition?

Changing behavior is difficult. We have heard time and time again from our end users that they know what to do to make changes; they just don’t know how to make themselves do it. That is why we at 2Morrow are approaching behavior change differently.

Using a unique behavioral model called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), people who use our programs learn new ways to cope with unhelpful thoughts, feelings, and urges that get in the way of their health and wellbeing goals. We offer a suite of complementary programs that address many of the most common behavior and behavioral-related health risks. We are one of the few digital health companies with a Phase 3 clinical trial. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/fullarticle/2770816

Jo, please brief our readers about your journey in the health and wellness industry.

I am the co-founder and CEO of 2Morrow. I started my career at the age of 20 as a registered nurse, and after a dozen years of direct patient care in a variety of settings, made the decision to leave nursing and start my own business and earn an MBA.

Since then, I have been trained as a wellness coach and found great joy in partnering with world-class researchers to create innovative digital health and digital therapeutics programs. At 2Morrow, I combine my belief in supporting others as they work toward their personal goals with the passion for using technology to expand access to care.

What is your opinion on the impact of the current pandemic on the global healthcare sector, and what challenges did you face during the initial phase of the pandemic?

The pandemic has demonstrated the value of being able to provide care remotely and validated the ability of telehealth and digital health to play an important role in the delivery of healthcare.

I believe that the pandemic has changed healthcare forever by accelerating the adoption of digital health by payers, providers, and individuals. We know that some things are done better in person, yet others have been improved by this shift to digital healthcare.

With continuous development in technologies such as AI and big data, what is your prediction about the future of the healthcare sector pertaining to the health and wellness vertical?

Technology will drive up access, drive down costs, and improve the collection and use of patient data in a way that makes value-based care models more attractive.

As an established leader, what would be your advice to the budding entrepreneurs and enthusiasts aspiring to venture into the health and wellness industry?

It is important to understand the problem that you are trying to solve from the standpoint of the patient, provider, and payer. I am the first to look at best practices as a baseline. However, innovation happens when we ask if there is a different—and hopefully better—way of addressing this problem.

How do you envision scaling your company’s operations and offerings in 2021?

We are incorporating learnings and insights from a recent Phase 3 clinical trial into our current commercial platform. In 2021, we are expanding our outreach and partnerships for our wellness programs while conducting research and development on medical-grade programs for key indications.
