Let’s get detailed insights on the latest advancements and personalized care at Sport Med in the interview below!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and your role within the regenerative medicine clinic?

I am Francisco Arroyo, the Medical Director of Sport Med Medical Centre, located in Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Our clinic holds prestigious certifications as a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence (FMCE) and a Collaborating Centre of Sports Medicine (CCSM) recognized by FIMS.

With a specialization in Regenerative Medicine, I am deeply involved in researching each case to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Since 2016, we have been at the forefront of Regenerative Medicine, starting with bone marrow and adipose tissue stem cell research and now focusing extensively on umbilical cord stem cells. Our treatments have received overwhelmingly positive responses, significantly improving the lives of our patients. While outcomes vary depending on individual health conditions, we are pleased with the overall positive results and the absence of adverse reactions associated with our stem cell therapies. These versatile cells have demonstrated efficacy in treating a wide range of clinical conditions, including cartilage regeneration, autoimmune disorders, and degenerative diseases.

What inspired you to pursue a career in regenerative medicine, and how did you become involved with this particular clinic?

About a decade ago, we began exploring stem cells and their emerging medical applications. We then had the opportunity to work jointly with a laboratory in the USA, where we developed protocols for cartilage regeneration using bone marrow stem cells, achieving good results. Shortly after, we established a laboratory in collaboration with a university in Mexico City, where we continued researching treatments with stem cells, this time derived from adipose tissue, for conditions such as Alzheimer’s, diabetes, autism, Parkinson’s, etc.

Currently, we have specialists in regenerative medicine to define the treatments to follow, and we have continued researching the effects of these cells in diverse clinical cases such as quadriplegia, renal insufficiency, autism, diabetes, and more. In all these cases, we are now using umbilical cord stem cells, which comply with all the regulations of the Health Ministry.

What sets your clinic apart from others in the field of regenerative medicine?

I am very particular about our patients’ care, always ensuring that we provide solutions that improve their health. Our service is personalized for each patient, and all treatments vary depending on their specific cases. For example, if the medical condition is joint or cartilage related, I conduct in-depth research and am deeply involved in every case to deliver the best possible results. This includes calculating the optimal amount of stem cells and exosomes required. This meticulous approach has contributed significantly to our success. Unlike other clinics that often rely on pre-established protocols, we believe each condition deserves dedicated time and attention. In some instances, we even administer stem cells under anesthesia to ensure faster and more effective results. Again, all these decisions depend on the individual case. We have firsthand experience, accumulated over several years, not only in treatments but also in researching the medical conditions that can be treated with stem cells, that we know we have achieved good results.

How do you ensure that patients receive personalized and compassionate care throughout their treatment process?

Our approach to treatment is meticulously controlled, from the driver who picks up our patients from the airport to the lab and the medical team. We have been in the industry for over 25 years, and we have carefully selected a team we trust to deliver the best results and ensure our patients’ safety. Sometimes, when possible, we include additional days of physical therapy as part of our services. It is always gratifying to receive messages from our patients from around the world back home, thanking us and feeling better. These messages validate the importance of our work.

What are some of the latest advancements or breakthroughs in regenerative medicine that your clinic is exploring or implementing?

I am very surprised by two remarkable cases. One involves a patient we started treating soon after the patient had an accident, resulting in quadriplegia. Through stem cell therapy, we have significantly improved our patient’s mobility, which is breathtaking to witness, even for someone with many years of experience like me. Another area where we have seen unexpectedly positive results is in treating autism and Alzheimer’s disease. Patients seem to be “waking up” from their previous state, which is incredible to witness. Whenever we encounter a new pathology where the patient is seeking a solution with stem cells, we conduct research on a global level. This approach allows us to follow best practices and achieve optimal results.

For individuals considering regenerative medicine treatments, what advice or recommendations would you offer them?

My advice would be to look for clinics that have been established in the market for a significant period and are not just surfacing because of a trend. If the clinic is new, ensure that the doctors are qualified by researching their medical team. If you are seeking stem cell treatment, consult a regenerative treatment institution with experience.

This will help you receive informed advice about your condition and have all your questions answered. By doing so, you can determine if you are a suitable candidate for the treatment and make a confident decision based on the expertise and credibility of the institution where you had your consultation.
