COVID Infection in Children
With the uprise in COVID-19, the majority of healthy adults across the nation were infected. However, as scientists across the world are conducting deeper studies, more details about the infections are coming out. Studies conducted on a large scale showed more than 1.25 million patients were children. It showed in them cognitive disorders like nerve/psychotic disorders, insomnia, or seizures months after infection.
As per The Lancet Psychiatry journal, collected data showcased 185,748 kids and found that post-COVID risk trajectories were different in kids as in adults. They experienced sudden mood swings and anxiety disorders within six months of the SARS-CoV-2 infection.
The study further mentioned that young kids have a more prone benign overall profile of psychiatric risk than adults, and older adults are at higher risk of concern. A portion of older people with a neurological and psychiatric diagnoses such as dementia, epilepsy, or seizures, passed away soon after symptoms appeared. On the other hand, Omicron has a comparatively lower rate of deaths than before, with similar numbers of psychiatric outcomes.
