The Health Department of Kerala is discontinuing the services of 20,000 staff of the Covid brigade, according to an order issued by the state mission director of the National Health Mission.
The staff was deployed to fight against the COVID-19 virus in January 2020. The dismissal of this staff has been done based on the assumption that the third wave will likely not surface.
The Covid brigade played a key role in the state’s fight against the virus. The team included doctors, nursing staff, and paramedic staff employed in various Covid treatment centres, first-line treatment centres, and domiciliary care centres.
