Ottawa, The Canadian federal government, stated that it would offer a one-time boost of C$ 2 billion ($1.6 billion) to provinces and territories to help them deal with the backlog created by the Covid-1 outbreak.
According to a statement from Finance Ministry, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused 700,000 surgeries and other medical operations to be postponed, resulting in a rise in waitlists and backlogs, according to Xinhua news agency.
This amount is in addition to the Canadian dollar 4.5 billion Canada Health Transfer (CHT) top-up provided since the start of the pandemic, according to the release, and will help provinces and territories address immediate pandemic-related health care system pressures such as surgical, medical, and diagnostic backlogs.
It would give doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals the tools they need to ensure that Canadians get the care they deserve. According to the announcement, provinces and territories will be allowed to use the funds to help their own circumstances, such as expanding the health workforce.
