The new delta variant of Covid that some are calling ‘Delta Plus’ might be more transmissible than the original delta variant of the virus.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has moved the virus up in the category of “variant under investigation” to contemplate its probable risk.
There is no evidence yet as to if the new variant causes more severe illness in individuals. Although, scientists are confident that the existing vaccines should work fine to treat the illness. The latest official data suggests that the new variant accounts for 6% of the total new cases of Covid in the UK.
