Incepted in 1959 by the visionary Late Padmashree Dr. K.B. Grant, the Ruby Hall Clinic provides affordable yet quality healthcare to the people of Pune city and surrounding areas. Ruby Hall Clinic started with just two beds in a small rented bungalow and today, it is a multi-specialty tertiary care national health care facility having three units and over 750 beds.
The Inspiring Journey of Ruby Hall
For the last six decades, the hospital’s journey has been remarkable. The credit undoubtedly goes to the visionary Dr. K.B. Grant and later to the dynamic CEO, Mr. Bomi Bhote and the Managing Trustee, Dr. Purvez Grant. The need of the intensive care in the Maharashtra state was well recognized and this led to having a state-of-the-art 150 critical care beds. Due to its quality care and the everlasting quench for the latest technology, helped Ruby Hall Clinic to emerge as the best medical tourism center in the country and was duly recognized by the President of India in 2012.
The management also felt a dire need to start a new boutique hospital at Wanowrie around 10 kilometers from the main hospital, which caters the special needs of the overseas patients. Recently, it has commissioned another boutique hospital of 60 beds at Hinjewadi to take care of IT crowd in Pune.
Ruby Hall Clinic is a pioneer in starting transplant programs in the State of Maharashtra. Way back in the year 1997, the hospital had the first kidney transplant and since then, it has emerged as the best transplant center in the country with the facility of kidney, liver, heart, pancreas, lung & bone marrow and corneal transplants and related ancillary services under one roof. Putting all together till date, Ruby Hall has done over 3000 transplants.
Ruby Hall Clinic has started the first Robotic Centre in the State of Maharashtra barring Mumbai in 2017. Dr. Purvez Grant, the Chief Cardiologist and the Managing Trustee is following the footprints of his father Dr. K.B. Grant and contributing a major leadership role in the hospital development.
Mr. Bomi Bhote, an engineer turned into a hard core healthcare administrator has been playing the most crucial role at Ruby Hall Clinic. It’s his strategic leadership and vision which brought Ruby Hall Clinic from 150 beds to 750 beds currently and also adding to new units. Ruby Hall clinic is a multi-specialty hospital but our signature services include the comprehensive Oncology unit, multi-organ transplant center, and cardiac sciences. Oncology services include medical, surgical, and radiation oncology services with all modern modalities. Multi-organ transplant center provides pre and post-transplant services, HLA testing, rehabilitation services and financial counseling services. RHC has been awarded as ‘The Best Transplant Center’ in the year 2016. “ A 58 year old gentleman came to Ruby Hall Clinic with H/O jaundice, encephalopathy from outside hospital. We found that he had acute Hepatitis E and undetected liver cirrhosis due to auto immune liver disease. He got intubated due to superadded lung infection and was in critical care unit 20 days for optimization. 3 of his family member had fatty liver and could not be live donor for transplant. He was fortunate to get diseased donor liver. Post-transplant also he had renal failure, chest infection. But, with excellent multi-disciplinary care, he came out of all his issues and was discharged. Now, he has completed 2 years transplant,” says Dr. Purvez Grant.

Ruby Hall Clinic has a dedicated Medical Social Work Department which caters the needs of the patients having poor financial background. The department helps to generate the funds through different charitable organizations, Chief Minister Funds, Prime Minister Fund, etc. Also, the management spends almost 12 -13 cr. revenue annually on charity for poor and needy patients.
Apart from this, the Ruby Hall Clinic has developed unique mobile app which is well recognized by the Chief Minister Award. It provides the patients the appointment services and assists to choose doctors amongst consultants along with to help book ambulance services in emergency. Also, there is a provision of storing their medical records in the app. Patients can also find the hospital information through a booklet which is uploaded on the app, which gives the comprehensive information about the hospital.
