Cloudbreak Health: A Leading Enterprise Solutions Provider Pioneering Unified Telemedicine Services

Jamey Edwards | CEO | Cloudbreak Health | Telemedicine | Insights Care

One in five patients (20%) speak a language other than English in their homes or have significant hearing loss. According to the most recent U.S. Census, over 60 million Americans speak a language other than English in their homes, including ASL (American Sign Language). Our national healthcare system faces challenges treating Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and deaf patients do not receive the same standard of care as their English-speaking counterparts due to the language barrier. Cloudbreak Health was the first company to bring a medical language interpreter to the point of care via telemedicine. Its platform is called Martti™ (My Accessible Real Time Trusted Interpreter) and its goal is to rectify this healthcare disparity.

Cloudbreak Health’s vision for the future of healthcare is to surround a patient with their care continuum anywhere they are, anytime they need it, on any device they may be carrying and in any language they speak,” which can improve efficiency and care quality while lowering costs and increasing access. Using technology, Cloudbreak brings doctors to patients, services to hospitals, and expertise to infrastructure. The platform can be used to solve some of the industry’s biggest challenges such as effective population health strategy, reducing healthcare disparities, expanding hospital offerings and resources, and providing proper language services.

Trailblazing Platform and Solution

Cloudbreak Health is a leading enterprise solutions provider, which pioneered unified telemedicine services nationwide. The Cloudbreak unified telemedicine solution is currently being used in over 1,000 hospitals across the country and performing over 85,000 encounters per month, making it one of the most widely utilized telemedicine platforms in the United States.

Cloudbreak platform simplifies how providers care for patients, putting a full care continuum at their fingertips 24/7. Cloudbreak’s telemedicine delivery network is one of the nation’s first and largest private path broadband networks optimized for telehealth. The network provides more than one million minutes of telemedicine consultation each month and links to the Cloudbreak Telehealth Marketplace of thousands of providers. From tele-interpretation to tele-psychiatry and tele-stroke to consumer telemedicine and beyond, Cloudbreak’s innovative platform offers care enablement anywhere, at any time, and virtually on any device to reduce healthcare disparities and improve access, care quality, and outcomes.

The Cloudbreak Martti™ solution breaks down language and cultural barriers by enabling quick and easy communication with patients who are Limited English Proficient (LEP) or Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing via live video or audio. More than 250 languages, including American Sign Language, are offered, with nearly 60 languages available in live video – the largest video offering in the industry. The company has expanded its service to include tele-psychiatry, tele-stroke, e-Visit, and other use cases, giving its partners the ability to create custom telemedicine programs in their branding, fitting their exact strategy and surrounding their patient with a full continuum of care.

Cloudbreak’s clients realized that the company’s core software, hardware, and video expertise could be deployed for other reasons more cost effectively than other solutions in the market. Cloudbreak’s solution is fully customizable and can be private-labeled while remaining interoperable with many other platforms. It allows hospitals to work with one partner for their video collaboration needs throughout the health system.
