“You treat a disease, you win, you lose. You treat a person, I guarantee you, you’ll win, no matter what the outcome.” – Patch Adams, American Physician
Healthcare Professionals have been doing more than treating diseases, they are treating the ailing souls through the care of compassion and words of comfort. However, these healthcare professionals faced huge difficulties to carry out their noble work with compassion during the COVID-19 pandemic due to the lack of resources.
Most healthcare institutions face the dilemma of utilizing their current resources to provide high-quality healthcare to patients or invest some to recruit new talents to fill the gap. That is where organizations such as Healthcare Staffing Professionals have been aiding with their recruitment services.
Based in Reseda, CA, Healthcare Staffing Professionals (HSP) have been providing long-term temporary staffing and permanent hiring services in Healthcare and beyond.
And CEO and President Maxie Juzang have been leading the company with his decades-long experience and expertise in healthcare and technology. “Our ability to adjust our processes to meet the special needs and programs of our clients makes it easy for clients to do business with HSP,” he says.
Read the following interview to get a glimpse of Maxie’s journey from being a healthcare executive to CEO at HSP and how the company, with its services, has been aiding government agencies and private organizations to improve lives.
Please brief our audience about Healthcare Staffing Professionals, its values, vision, and mission.
HSP is a nationwide and diverse long-term temporary staffing and recruiting firm. Our mission has always been to provide top talent on time for our clients with excellent service and integrity while being socially and environmentally responsible.
Brief us about how you have set yourself apart from the competition through your expertise in healthcare staffing?
HSP has integrated technology with marketing and recruiting teams to deliver top talent to our clients. Our ability at HSP to deliver the hardest to find talent is what sets us apart.
What services does your company offer and how are you making an impact in the global healthcare industry?
Our primary services are long-term temporary staffing and permanent hire recruiting. We offer talent in Healthcare, IT, Administration, Finance, Science, and Engineering. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our ability to help critical healthcare entities, universities, and government agencies with the talent, they need for critical care, covid outbreak management, and vaccine distribution has been second to none.
Brief us about your journey in the healthcare industry.
My 40-year career started in engineering and IT with IBM. I then gravitated to Healthcare IT with WebMD and now to Staffing in both Healthcare and other key segments over the last 13 years.
My experience as an executive in healthcare and technology and as a leader in delivering and implementing technology platforms to improve efficiency and developing effective teams for elite performance has helped HSP to be efficient and very effective in sourcing talent for our clients.
Also, our ability to adjust our processes to meet the special needs and programs of our clients makes it easy for clients to do business with HSP.
Being an experienced leader, share with us your opinion on how the adoption of modern technologies in the healthcare discipline has transformed the industry and what more could be expected in the near future?
In the staffing industry, in particular, technology has been critical in improving efficiencies in sourcing talent, communications with candidates, skills and background testing, and onboarding talent.
Taking into consideration, the current pandemic, and its impact on global economies, how are you driving your company to sustain operations and ensuring the safety of your employees at the same time?
HSP implemented a detailed program for adhering to LA County guidelines for safety during COVID. We already had the technology to support remote work, so the transition was easier because we only had to implement some new processes. We have had great success in keeping our employees safe and productive during the pandemic.
What would be your advice to budding entrepreneurs who aspire to venture into the healthcare sector?
Work hard, stay on top of frequent regulatory changes, and build a solid management team as you grow. Invest in marketing and sales so that most importantly you can grow your client base. Make sure you deliver quality products/services with excellent customer service to your clients. Focus on what you are at and grow with discipline, so you don’t get overwhelmed trying to do everything vs. being great at a few things.
Where do you envision your organization to be in the long run and what are your future goals?
Our firm has been growing at 25% annualized for the last 6 years and will almost double in size in 2021. We continue to focus on excellence, investing in our internal employees and technology, and most importantly delivering for our clients. We always continue to expand our client base to achieve more diversity. We want to continue to honor our mission and continue to have a positive social and environmental impact.
