Moderna seeks FDA approval to expand its COVID vaccine, says the vaccine is 100% effective in teens

On Tuesday, May 25, Moderna during a press release said that its COVID vaccine is 100% effective in teens as demonstrated in a study observing results in adolescents of ages between 12 to 17. Citing the successful results Moderna will be the second vaccine following Pfizer showing its high efficiency in younger age groups. This month Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech got the approval earlier this month to use its vaccine for adolescents aged between 12 to 15.

Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel said in the press release that the company is encouraged by the highly effective results of its mRNA-1273 COVID-19 vaccine in teens. Now the company seeks the approval from FDA to expands its vaccine to teens for emergency use. Moderna’s two-dose COVID-19 vaccine which has to be taken four weeks apart is already approved for adults.
