Oral Hygiene

With those metal things in your teeth, you might have a hard time brushing your teeth because they cover some of them, but here is how you do it right:

  • Brush After Every Meal: Food can easily get stuck in your braces and will cause your teeth to have more issues like cavities so you have to brush your teeth every after meals to avoid this.
  • Use a Soft-Bristled Toothbrush: Compared to using hard bristles, these ones are more gentle on your gums, and because they are flexible, they can make cleaning around your brackets and wires easier.
  • Brush for Two Minutes: Make sure you cover all surfaces of your teeth and braces and brush them equally as long as the other. Also, make sure to go in an up-and-down motion as well as a roundabout motion so you can make sure that you cover every inch of space.

Flossing can be a little tricky to get used to when you have  braces because of the wires that will block the floss, but you can do it right if you follow these:

  • Use Floss Threaders: These are special tools that dentists recommend to help you floss even when you have braces because they can help you get under the wires and achieve a nice and clean floss.
  • Floss Once a Day: Similar to brushing your teeth, these can help you avoid build-up in your teeth, which will lead to even more issues along the way, so make sure to never forget it!

)ou should also rinse with mouthwash because it can help keep your mouth clean and fresh. Here are some things you need to do:

  • Use an Antibacterial Mouthwash: Because of how they are made, they can help you reduce the risk of having gum diseases and cavities which come from bacteria in your mouth and can be taken care of using this type of mouthwash (and with proper brushing course)
  • Rinse Daily: It’s a good habit to maintain overall oral health.
