In May, Children’s Hospital Colorado announced a mental health state of crisis due to the number of kids looking for treatment for suicidal thoughts and other mental health concerns.
According to the facility, behavioral health emergency room appointments shot up 72% statewide from January to April of this year contrasted to the same period in 2019.
Across the nation, the National Institute for Health Care Management declared that mental health-related emergency room visits surged for both kids and teenagers between mid-March and October of 2020 contrasted to the same time in 2019.
Some medical experts are anticipating another spike of kids seeking help in the fall.
