In its Covid-19 weekly epidemiological update, WHO stated that there had been an overall rise in Covid-19 cases due to delta variants across all regions.
Healthcare systems are under tremendous pressure, particularly in the low vaccine coverage. In the weekly update, at least 111 countries, territories, and areas have reported detection of the Delta variant. They are expected to continue to increase, becoming the dominant variant globally in the coming months.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus , Chief of WHO said, “Delta variant of COVID-19 is ripping around the world at a scorching pace.”
