The Gopalakrishnan-Deshpande Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (GDC) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is collaborating with TDK Corporation, a Japan-based leader in electronic solutions for the smart society, to introduce the “TIIC Accelerator Program 2024.”
The program’s goal is to support companies and academics from Indian STEM universities that are creating innovative solutions for the healthcare and diagnostics industries. By collaborating, TDK Corporation aims to leverage the rich reservoir of talent and inventiveness in India to accelerate innovations in the fields of diagnostics, medical devices and related fields. Healthcare technology businesses with great potential will grow more quickly because of the program’s customized support, partnerships, investment opportunities and mentoring.
Through the “TIIC Accelerator Program 2024,” which brings together TDK’s vast experience in the technology sector with GDC’s expertise in commercializing research and promoting entrepreneurship, a major influence on the Indian healthcare technology startup ecosystem is anticipated.
Startups from various segments of the healthcare technology and diagnostics industry are invited to apply for the program. These segments include diagnostic devices, wearables, analytics, 3D printing, robotics, AR/VR and advanced materials for medical diagnostics and equipment.
In June 2024, there will be an initial call for applications, from which extremely prospective teams or startups will be chosen. The chosen teams and startups will next participate in an in-person workshop hosted by GDC at the IIT Madras campus. The teams will then go through a rigorous 6- to 8-week boot camp with an emphasis on consumer discovery.
In the meantime, a group of chosen teams will participate in a Business Mentorship programme designed to help them prepare for their TDK pitch and become investment-ready so they may secure funding or explore other potential joint venture opportunities.
