Participating in sports is an amazing way to release stress, exercise, enhance fitness, stay happy and be happy both mentally and physically. With the fun of sports, comes the injuries. But one cannot fear injury and stop taking part in sport. Performing in sports may range from a tennis match with one’s high school friend to Olympics or World Championship. While playing one cannot be cautious enough to avoid injuries as that would result in the distraction of the sport itself and would hamper the performance of the player. Most players take injuries a part of the sports activity.

With age, the chances of getting damage become more, as muscles start loosening up and strength begins to get reduced. It often seems that participating in athletic activities become hard for the body if one is not in a regular practice or getting old. Ankle Sprain

A sprain in the ankle affects the ligaments of the foot and occurs when one turns or rolls over the ankle which can cause bruising and tearing. One can treat sprained ankle with RICE treatment to help reduce inflammation and pain. RICE stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. But if the pain continues, one must consult the matter with a professional physiotherapist to recover, diminish the chances of recurring and avoid chronic problems.

Lower Back Pain

A lot of athletes experience lower back pain at some point in time, and the reasons behind this can be multiple. Experts say that the most common reasons behind this are informed form while lifting or shifting position. Professionals say that one can easily avoid this type of pain by learning the proper techniques of strengthening exercises, stretches and performing them in the shown way.

Plantar Fasciitis

This is a quite big injury which happens to active sportspersons and is mostly caused by repeated stress and strain on the feet and is often caused due to improper footwear and poor technique. Sports person with flat feet or who is constantly on feet for work or casually is more prone to have plantar fasciitis than others. Experts say that the best way to relieve the pain and stiffness of this injury is to roll the foot over something small but round, for example, a golf ball. It is seen that the activity stretches the fascia and helps in relieving the pain and stiffness of plantar fasciitis.

As per experts, no player can waste a game by concentrating more on the injury and less on the game. The best way to avoid getting injured is to stop thinking about the injury. One must focus more on the game, practice exercise including stretching regularly, increase one’s flexibility, have a proper diet and consult a professional physiotherapist on regular intervals.
