The Dengue outbreak in India hits children the worst

The viral dengue fever wreaks havoc in India, from UP to Maharashtra the mosquito-borne disease is especially affecting children. The outbreak has hit India’s most populous state the worst. Prayagraj district of the Uttar Pradesh state has 465 children still admitted to the state’s Firozabad District Medical Hospital and has reported a total of 97 active fever cases as of September 15.

The lethal virus is spread by two species of female mosquitos that are Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, out of which Aedes aegypti is more prevalent in India. Data from the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggests that around 400 million people get infected every year.
