With people being more conscious about their appearances, the medical aesthetic industry has come to play an integral role our lives. From changing appearances using make up, reconstructive surgeries, to making creams with respect to specific dermatological issues, medical aesthetics continue to move forward, research, and innovate.
While intensively taking on the topic for our edition titled, World’s 10 Best Companies in Medical Aesthetics Industry, 2021, we interviewed Therapon Skin Health Inc, an American manufacturer of clinical grade skin care products.
In the following interview, Plastic Surgeon, Dr. James Beckman, CEO and Founder shares with us in detail about the company’s journey in the Medical Aesthetics Industry and his opinions about the market that the company caters to along with the products and services they provide.
Below are the highlights of the interview:
Please brief our audience about your company, its mission, the key aspects of its stronghold within the medical aesthetics niche and the journey of your leader
Board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon and Theraderm® Clinical Skin Care, Founder/CEO, Dr. James (Jim) Beckman, began his medical career in 1977. With a medical degree from the University of Arkansas in hand and seven additional years of surgical training, Dr. Beckman set up his private plastic surgery practice in the state, where he continued to work for the next twenty years.
At the time, Beckman had no plans of developing a skincare line, but little did he know that his research, ingenuity, and desire to help his patients’ quality of life would soon mold his journey as a medical professional.
While treating motion-limiting scars in severely burned patients with a natural lanolin-based cream he developed, Dr. Beckman found a gap in the market for products that would truly improve their hard, firm, scars, which inspired him to create his own unique solution to address any person’s skin health – Beckman’s Skin Care Cream.
After Dr. Beckman finalized the development of this product, he soon became aware of a unique peptide ingredient being developed by a plastic surgeon, for military use in burn centers. A breakthrough property that restored mobility to skin, fought against the harmful side-effects of burns, and also caused wrinkles and fine lines to disappear. This ingredient in a simple cream and its powerful abilities are what would become the core of the Theraderm Clinical Skin Care line for anti-aging and the creation of his visionary company, ‘Therapon Skin Health’.
“We think of our products as providing a process of uncovering natural beauty,” shares Dr. Beckman. “Our desire is to enable access for every person to a systematic method of having optimum skin health with superior, medical strength effectiveness of products that drive the body’s natural restorative mechanisms at the cellular level.”
Theraderm now has a wide range of skin and hair solutions and continues to innovate.
Tell us more about your products and solutions which make your company stand out from the competition?
Theraderm’s unique collagen repairing proprietary peptide technology has amassed 31 patents and is comprised of 10-12 amino acids connected in natural sequence: almost identical to the amino acids in collagen molecules in human skin. The result is elimination of up to 40 percent of laxity in skin causing a markedly diminished number and size of wrinkles.
Up to 90% of skin aging is due to the effects of the sun during normal daily lifetime activity, but what if we could stop that damage, even after a burn occurs?
Theraderm Skin Renewal System prevents and reverses UV damage. By using the system’s four products twice a day, it appears that it just might be possible to actually wipe the slate clean of UV injury that has already happened to skin throughout the day.
Theraderm incorporates a patent-pending formulation that is currently being proved in bio-engineering studies at two different universities to prevent most permanent sun-related damage when used after skin injury occurs. This is accomplished with medical-grade formulations and a mix of ingredients that includes the primary natural mediator of energy storage and use in the body, enzymes, powerful antioxidants, and patented peptides. One of the patent-protected peptides is exclusive only to Theraderm products and is proven to reduce and repair signs of aging in the skin itself.
Therapon also stands out for the incredible benefits of its award-winning anti-aging moisturizer, Theraderm’s Eternox Peptide Crème.
If you’re looking to offer an anti-aging solution that really works, just know that Eternox’s proprietary technology is scientifically proven and backed by 31 patents, which are unique to the Theraderm line.
With continuous development in technologies such as AI and big data, what is your prediction about the future of the healthcare sector pertaining to the medical aesthetics vertical?
We feel certain that technology will improve our ability to develop new products more precisely for specialized skin conditions and even general skincare. This also will improve ability for different products to have an increased synergy with other products. This will become evident especially in the aesthetic products field.
As an established leader, what would be your advice to the budding entrepreneurs and enthusiasts aspiring to venture into the medical aesthetics industry?
Our advice to those wishing to enter medical aesthetics, is to spend extra time learning as much as possible about normal skin biology and biochemistry that occurs within skin. New advances in skin anatomy and physiology are becoming possible through scientific tools now available in the lab.
How do you envision scaling your company’s operations and offerings in 2021?
Since we already provide medical grade skincare products for sale through physicians in the EU, United Kingdom and much of Asia as well as the Middle East, our operations may not change much. We don’t plan to be sold in “Big Box” stores, as the internet provides a very large marketplace. We continue our research in the area of products that directly improve outcomes of various skin conditions.
We have developed a topically applied product formulation that totally removes the redness in skin from ‘Rosacea’. We are finishing clinical studies showing phenomenal improvement in skin affected by Atopic Dermatitis with return to normal skin appearance and function. We plan to keep these products available as either OTC (over the counter) or certainly non-prescription products. This will influence our ability to make the claims that we truly observe.
