This is how the immune system reacts to COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

It has been noticed by people and doctors world wide that the people who have been infected by the novel coronavirus have been experiencing varied symptoms. Some people experience nothing more that mere cold, cough and other flu like symptoms, whereas others die due to inflammation in the lungs. Its surprising as to how the same virus could result in such different outcomes. Scientists have come out with a definitive answer for everyone this time.

The immune system plays an important role in deciding whether one experiences flu like symptoms or dies in the hospital. The majority of the coronavirus deaths are due to the immune system going haywire. When coronavirus attacks the immune system, how the body reacts after that is completely depended on the immune response. Sometimes it so happens that the virus potentially destroys the immune system and this is when the body leads to severe circumstances.

When the body is first infected, the initial response of the body is to activate its innate immune system like it would for any virus. The body then releases a protein known as the interferons, that interferes with the virus’s ability to replicate inside the body. These interferons then delegate and appoint other body cells to attack the virus and prevent it from spreading. This initial response plays the major role in recovering the body from the attack. This innate immune system is responsible for the numerous flu like symptoms faced by the body.
