On Saturday, the Central government convened a high-level meeting in light of the rise in Serotype-2 dengue cases in 11 states of the country.
The meeting was chaired by Rajiv Gauba, the Cabinet secretary with representatives from different states/UTs to not just discuss the dengue outbreak but also the management of COVID-19 and response strategy through a video conference.
In the meeting, states were requested to take campaigns to educate and communicate among the community regarding helplines, methods of vector control, symptoms of dengue, and source reduction at home.
Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana are among the states reporting Serotype-2 dengue cases.
