Susan DeCathelineau– A Compassionate and Committed Leader in Healthcare

One such ambitious leader who believes in collaborative efforts is Susan DeCathelineau, the Vice President of Global Healthcare Sales and Services at Hyland Software. She has always been focused on healthcare. She graduated with a degree in Healthcare Information Administration and has remained passionate and committed to the industry in the decades since. Although she does not treat patients, Susan focuses on supporting the people and systems that contribute to the best patient care.

A Veteran in Healthcare and Technological Services

Susan has worked in different health systems as a leader of both technology and business areas in those organizations. She has also led sales and services teams for healthcare technology organizations. Prior to joining Hyland, she was a customer of the company who utilized their platform, OnBase. Her first role after joining Hyland was on the Healthcare Sales team in which she was able to share her OnBase experience with other healthcare organizations.

Susan recently celebrated her 12-year anniversary at Hyland. During this time, she continued to grow her expertise and responsibilities. She now leads a combined Global Healthcare Sales and Services team.  “In my current role, I’m able to combine the insights I gained as both a customer and vendor of healthcare information technology, to guide our talented team in serving our customers’ needs,” said Susan.

Customer satisfaction acts as a key motivator for Susan. She is motivated to support transformational changes in customers’ organizations. “Our customers’ business models and initiatives continue to evolve to meet changing market demands,” said Susan. Under Susan’s percipient leadership, Hyland continues to establish strong partnerships in supporting customers’ long-term strategies.

The company’s high customer retention rate is due to their engagement with the customers, listening to the challenges they face, and helping them solve their business problems. “As our customers evolve, so do we,” said Susan.  As leaders in the technology industry, Susan and her team stay ahead of the curve by collaborating closely with customers on developing solutions that will be ready for the future.

Remarkable Moments of Susan’s Life

Susan states that one of the most memorable moments in her life was running the Marine Corp
Marathon for Project Purple in memory of her father who passed away from pancreatic cancer. She had the opportunity to have her husband and her siblings together to cheer her brother, his wife, and herself during the race.

As an advocate for my Dad during his battle with pancreatic cancer, I learned how much more we as healthcare technology companies need to do in continuing to improve the patient experience and provide greater efficiencies for the healthcare provider,” states Susan.

Indomitable will to Overcome Challenges

Susan has always strived to push herself out of her comfort zone. Throughout her career, she has challenged herself to take on new roles and learn from experiences that have helped her grow professionally and personally. In pursuing many lofty goals, there have been obstacles that she had to face, overcome, and learn from. She says, “Getting past those obstacles may not have been comfortable, but it pushed me to go beyond what I may have thought I could achieve and help me to continue to evolve”.

Susan’s views about the Healthcare Industry

Susan feels that healthcare organizations need the ability to connect, manage, view, and share
the longitudinal patient medical and imaging information.  Providing information integrated into the comprehensive EHR, Hyland Healthcare allows clinicians and specialists to see a complete picture of the patient.  Better access to information supports more timely and informed care decisions, which in turn can drive improved outcomes, physician efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
